Why I Am Running
Terry McGlynn stepped down the way he led: by trusting the faculty to choose. An open election strengthens shared governance, and I am running to give the General Faculty a real choice at a moment that will define the next several years at CSUDH.
After four terms as your Statewide Senator, five years on the ASCSU Executive Committee, service as an elected Department Chair and Acting Associate Dean, and a career spent teaching management and labor relations, I know how decisions actually get made in this system — and I know where faculty voice gets lost.
An Honest Budget
Transparent, complete program-cost accounting before any cuts, and a defense of consultation rights for affected faculty. No program judged by FTE counts and graduates alone.
Faculty-Shaped Data & AI
The Data Governance Board and systemwide AI decisions land this year. I served on the CSU Generative AI Committee — faculty must shape the answers, not receive them.
A Senate You Can See Working
Records posted on time, weekly open office hours, real NTTF representation, an elected Vice Chair and Secretary in future years, and follow-through on the faculty role in administrator hiring.
The Election — and the Year Ahead
The General Faculty will elect the Academic Senate Chair for 2026–27 in a special election this fall. Every member of the General Faculty votes — tenure-line and lecturer colleagues alike. Watch for the Parliamentarian's official notice with the ballot and timeline, and see how to help in the meantime.
The stakes are unusually high. This year CSUDH is expected to select a permanent President, Provost, Vice President for Student Affairs, Dean of CBAPP, and many other key leadership roles — and faculty may face a contract fight, possibly including a strike. The next Chair will carry the faculty's voice into every one of those rooms. See how I would set the year's priorities.
